HOW SHOULD I PREPARE TO LAY SOD?
Sod roots will need to be able to penetrate the ground, so soil should be loose, not packed. You can either use a rake to loosen the soil or till compost in to it to add nutrients.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO WATER NEW SOD?
New sod needs to be wet as much as possible for the first 10 - 14 days, being careful not to overwater. Once the grass square becomes harder to pull up, watering can be cut back slightly. Once the grass is unable to pull up, a "normal" watering schedule can be resumed.
SHOULD I FERTILIZE NEW SOD?
It is not necessary to fertilize new sod. However, it may be beneficial to use a root stimulator to aid in root establishment of the sod.
